Archos ships 9.7-inch budget tablet with Android

Archos just added a fifth model to its Arnova tablet range with the Arnova 9 G2. It sports an iPad-like 9.7-inch, 1024x768-pixel IPS display with a five-point multi-touch capacitive touchscreen layer and runs on Android 2.3. Processing power comes courtesy of a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 single-core processor, and there is 8GB of storage onboard.

The tablet otherwise gets a microSD memory card slot, USB and micro USB ports, and Wi-Fi. A front-facing camera, stereo speakers and a microphone are also housed in the 12.5mm thick body that weighs 1.4lbs.

Unfortunately, the pricing or shipping dates for the tablet weren't revealed, though Archos is known for making budget tablets. The company's 10-inch tablet, which gets only a 600MHz processor, costs $199. [via Liliputing]
