HTC Quattro identified as planned Tegra 3 tablet

HTC's plans for a quad-core tablet were made more real Thursday after a leak showed the device and some details. Now nicknamed the Quattro, the tablet PocketNow has seen in a press render should have the Tegra 3 that earns the Quattro its name. The 10-inch system would simultaneously be HTC's first Beats-equipped slate, getting the better sound and presumably better pack-in headphones.

The tablet would make unusual sacrifices over the Jetstream to get to a sub-9mm thickness. Its cameras would be a downgrade, lowering to two megapixels on the back and a slightly more modest 1.3-megapixel camera at the front. Display resolution might also be slightly lower at 1280x768, not the usual 1280x800.

Quattros are likely to ship with Android 4.0, but the main addition from HTC beyond Sense should be a version of the Watch movie store with HD downloads and rentals.

The tablet could be unveiled at Mobile World Congress in February and, unlike the Jetstream, may arrive in Wi-Fi only versions as well as 3G and 4G.
