Phone features touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard
Canadian Wireless provider Telus will soon be offering the Motorola Motokey Social to its prepaid customers. As its name implies, the phone targets users with a strong interest in social networking, and incorporates a dedicated hard key to access Facebook much like the smartphone-level HTC Status. The UI provides five different home screens, two interface themes and built in links to Twitter in addition to Facebook; Opera Mini gives it slightly more sophisticated web browsing.
In hardware, the Social mixes a 2.4-inch, 320x240 touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard. It sports a rear-facing three-megapixel camera, but none front-facing.
To help launch the phone, Motorola is inviting people to a special Facebook page between November 21, and December 5, to play a "MOTOKEY Master game" for chances to win their own Social phone or other prizes.
The Motokey Social will be available starting November 21 to Telus' prepaid customers and should be one of its least expensive keyboarded phones. The Social will sell for $90 without needing a contract.
