Skype Mac and Windows get Facebook support

Acting on a promise from July, Skype has rolled out new test versions for Macs and Windows that give both of the apps support for full Facebook video chat. Both an updated 5.4 beta for Mac and 5.7 beta for Windows let users make a call from their own Facebook accounts inside the app to others' without one or both having to go to the web. The only stipulation is having a Facebook account linked to Skype to get contacts.

Extra improvements come to both platforms' respective apps. Mac users get smoother video rendering. Windows users also catch up to the Mac version by getting group screen sharing if they have a Premium subscription. Either version will let users screen share without disrupting the video chat if they have enough bandwidth.

No word has been given as to whether the Android or iOS versions will get the Facebook-to-Facebook video call support.
