New netbooks may be shipping by holidays
ASUS may be shipping its first Intel Atom Cedar-Trail-based netbooks in time for the Christmas shopping season. Netbook News has posted copies of pages from ASUS' in-house magazine, Tech in Style, showing the Eee PC 1025C and 1025CE netbooks. The photos show both devices decked out in holiday gift boxes.
Both 10.1-inch models feature "next generation" Intel Atom processors that are already known to be the more power-efficient, faster Cedar Trail line. The screen is a LED backlit 1024x600 display in either case. SATA storage ranges from 250GB to 500GB. Each has at least 1GB of DDR3 memory. The basic optical drive, when included, is a DVD burner; a Blu-ray combo drive is listed as an option. The 1025CE adds USB 3.0 ports and USB charging capability.
The 1025C will be available in a rainbow of eight colors including black, blue, red, gray, matte or glossy white, pink, and brown. The higher-end 1025CE is only available in pink, blue, and purple. Pricing of both models and options weren't given out, although their presence in a guide suggests they'll be available in days or weeks.
