Woz shows cross-discipline in getting Galaxy Nexus
Google Android browser engineer Nicolas Roard in an unusual sighting saw Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak picking up a Galaxy Nexus at Google's Mountain View headquarters. The pickup is superficially ironic but also shows Wozniak's influence in the industry, as he's getting the Android 4.0 phone before it's officially available in the US. It may not reach Verizon until early December.
The pickup was prompted by a post on Twitter from Wozniak as he checked Best Buy unsuccessfully for a Galaxy Nexus in advance.
Despite preconceptions, Wozniak isn't a stranger to Android devices and has picked up earlier Nexus phones as well as other models. He has taken to complimenting Android when Google implements a smart feature. He remains avid iPhone fan and lined up for the iPhone 4S even though he could have exercised his official position at Apple to get one early.
The co-founder has always described himself as an engineer and a fan of technology in general. He wasn't secretive about using Android during Jobs' lifetime and isn't likely to have changed behavior since. [via Phandroid]

Nothing odd about this
Steve is still an engineer at heart and loves to play with all kinds of devices. As far as I can tell he's always had a great interest in new technology no matter where it comes from. I remember him speaking very knowledgeably about Windows and Microsoft generally some years back. He likes to keep current, and if you're wealthy enough to afford all the toys I see absolutely no reason for him not to do so.
