Apple runs iPad 2 Love ad

After swinging its attention to the iPhone 4S, Apple has quietly started running a new iPad 2 TV ad. Its 'Love' spot focuses on how the iPad can help people live up to their dreams, whether it's coaching a junior basketball team, learning to play music, or painting landscapes. Each case is a situation where a traditional PC wouldn't have worked as well or at all, something which Apple recognizes at the end.

"Getting lost in something you love has never felt quite like this," Peter Coyote narrates.

The ad is considerably more active and a slight break from earlier commercials, which tended to focus more on static shots, but keeps to Apple's focus on the human element rather than on the hardware specifications still common to ads for its Android rivals. Apple likely wants to reinforce this point just as it's about to reach the pinnacle of holiday sales on Black Friday this week.

    In the late 80s and 90s the PC side kept harping on specs (speed and size) and 3 apps: databases, spread sheets, and word processing. They EVENTUALLY lost that war, but they are back trying it out again. There is NO LOVE on the PC side!
