iPhone 4S to reach Taiwan 30K batch

The upcoming Taiwan iPhone 4S launch may have been narrowed down in an unusually detailed rumor. Having been cleared to sell, it should arrive between December 14 and 16, Digitimes understood. The small island would get just 30,000 units, half of which would go to Chungwa Telecom, while the rest would be split equally between FarEasTone and Taiwan Mobile.

Only five percent would be the 64GB models, while the rest would be shared in an unknown ratio between the 16GB and 32GB capacities.

Even with weeks to go, the carriers were reportedly trying to narrow the price difference between the iPhone 4 and 4S in similar capacities, presumably for the old 16GB iPhone 4, down to the equivalent of $33. It's unlikely they will get significant flexibility given Apple's usually firm stance on creating clear gaps in pricing.

Apple has promised one of its fastest international expansions ever for the iPhone and should have the iPhone 4S in several dozen countries before the end of the year. In Taiwan, it's hoping to curb Android phones that come from local firms like Acer and HTC that have an advantage in the area.
