Google TV update adds key YouTube, photo extras

Google's recent Google TV revamp got its first significant OS update on Wednesday with the addition of some heavily requested extras. YouTube on the TV interface now catches up to Apple TV with support for both playlists and subscriptions. Common playlists like Favorites and Watch Later carry over at the same time.

The Photos app now has a new Discover mode. Invoking it automatically creates an Apple TV-style collage using your online collection, whether it comes from Flickr or Picasa. Google's feature is more advanced and lets users jump to individual photos by picking them as they appear in the collage.

Both extras should be available today on the Logitech Revue and Sony's Internet TV and Blu-ray Player.
