Sharp to ship waterproof 720p smartphone in Japan

Japenese provider NTT DoCoMo has just officially announced that the Sharp SH-01D will ship on December 2. The Android 2.3-powered smartphone is waterproof and gets a 4.5-inch LCD with a 720x1280 resolution. The Aquos-branded screen uses a parallax barrier design for glasses-free 3D images.

Beyond the processor, there is a 12.1-megapixel camera that uses optical image stabilization and can shoot HD video. The processor is a dual-core, 1GHz OMAP4430 and gets the usual assortment of GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth features. It has global roaming capability and an integrated TV tuner. DLNA media sharing and an NFC chip are likewise present.

Pricing hasn't yet been revealed. [via SlashGear]
