Motorola details two 720p-screened smartphones

Motorola recently introduced two Android 2.3 smartphones due for release in China. The XT928 and MT917 share hardware specs that are an upgrade even over recent devices, using the same 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM but with a new 4.5-inch, 1280x720 display and an upgraded 13-megapixel camera capable of shooting 1080p video. There is also a 1.3-megapixel camera up front.

The screens of either are also protected by Corning Gorilla glass. The MT917 is just 8.5mm thick and uses Kevlar fiber, just like the slightly thinner Droid RAZR. It also uses a zinc frame and splash guard coating on its internal components. Users can download apps from Mobile Market-SHOP4APPS, which combines the Android Market and Motorola's own app store.

Both arrive in China in mid-December, though prices haven't been revealed. The XT928 is due at China Telecom. If or when they will arrive the US is likewise unknown.
