Verizon details FiOS TV on Xbox 360 requirements

Verizon has now made public some details of its Xbox 360 Live TV service first mentioned back at the start of October. Through their Xbox 360, Xbox Live Gold members will have the ability to access up to 26 live FiOS TV channels, depending on their subscription. They also need to be FiOS TV and Internet service subscribers.

Viewers can also control the TV watching experience using voice and gesture commands through Kinect. To get users onboard, Verizon is offering a package that ends on January 21 that bundles FiOS TV, FiOS 35/35Mbps Internet service, and voice service for $90 per month. Also thrown in is a 12-month Xbox Live Gold Membership and a copy of Xbox Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary to play.

The required FiOS TV app for the Xbox 360 goes live in December along with the fall Xbox 360 Dashboard update.

    Fios for Xbox

When I think of the Fios app for Xbox, I can’t think of one reason why I would ever use it. If I already have a set top box that gets the same channels and more, why would I need to watch a handful of them through my Xbox on the same TV? I would prefer my employee Sling adapter from DISH Network over this Fios app for Xbox any day of the year. I can stream live and recorded TV to my Android phone and iPad everywhere I have 3G coverage or Wi-Fi. So I would rather be able to watch TV everywhere I go than watch limited channels on my Xbox. Plus, DISH is offering Sling adapters for free, so why not?
