Ricoh to bring out 16MP, modular lens to GXR cam

Ricoh will soon add a new lens module to its GXR camera, the company's Japanese website and roadmap revealed. It will be based on an APS-C sized CMOS sensor and use a 24-85mm equivalent zoom lens. The sensor is likely to use a Sony 16-megapixel chip for the module like that in the NEX-C3.

The lens is expected to get f3.5-5.5 aperture, and an official announcement is supposedly due at CES, with a January 20 launch. The timing coincides with the "early 2012" date mentioned in the roadmap. Prices and other technical details are not yet available, however. [via DPReview]
