Amazon launches Kindle, store in Italy and Spain

Amazon is now offering its Kindle e-book reader in Italy and Spain. The device will cost 99 euros (about $134) in either country, and the Kindle store in Spain and Italy will also be available to match. The Spanish store has more than 22,000 Spanish-language Kindle books and the largest selection of Catalan, Basque, and Galician books.

It offers the largest selection of bestsellers in Spain with 20 of the Top 30 El Cultural fiction and non-fiction best sellers. With Kindle Direct Publishing, the store will launch with three exclusive self-published books from award-winning author and journalist Rosa Montero.

The Italian Kindle Store offers the most digital Italian-language titles with 16,000 Kindle books. Both stores offer more than 900,000 total e-book titles in all languages.

I think it's great that Amazon is expanding their market. I like their products but think they could use the extra popularity to fund more innovative products.
