YouTube UI revamp goes live

YouTube took public its Cosmic Panda web remake. The homepage look is designed to focus more on channels, such as its original content, as well as existing subscriptions. It's now also possible to link YouTube to Google+ or Facebook to improve sharing.

The channels in question now have an improved layout in general, including the option of different templates to help those who might post videos more or less often.

Videos themselves, the heart of the Cosmic Panda update, also have a new look that both goes gray to draw more attention to the video, larger video thumbnails, larger and more touch-oriented buttons, and overall less clutter.

Along with preparing for the original content, the revamp more directly reflects the shift to mobile and away from Flash. YouTube recently added 1080p support for HTML5 and now has a page more oriented towards direct viewing on a smartphone or tablet.
