PS Vita to limit multitasking, synced PSN accounts

PS Vita to have limitations, at least initially

The upcoming PS Vita handheld console from Sony will be limited from web browsing while a game is running in the background. Users will have the ability to check friends' lists, music and Twitter, but can't browse the web while in a game. At the same time, only one PlayStation Network account can be set up on the device at the same time.

The company did say the multitasking restriction may not last forever, with a future software update possibly getting rid of it. The restriction is put in place to ensure gamers have the best performance during a game.

The existing PSP also only syncs with one user account, and Sony has confirmed switching it over requires a factory reset. At the same time, users will need special Windows software in order to sync data such as multimedia files onto the device, as it won't be recognized by the OS as a mass storage drive. A Mac version of the app is coming, but won't be out at launch.

The Vita is expected to be released on February 22 in North America, priced at $250 for a Wi-Fi version or $300 for one with 3G and Wi-Fi. [via SlashGear]
