Windows Phone Xbox Companion app due December 6

In addition to the Xbox 360 Live TV features that go live on December 6, Microsoft will launch its Xbox Companion app for Windows Phone on the same day. The free app will let users access and control content from the entertainment services available on Xbox Live. Bing will power a search that brings up results for movies, TV shows, music, games and apps contained in the Xbox catalog.

The Zune video catalog results will show within the app itself, along with recently played games and apps. Details of the movie, TV show, song or game will be returned as well. Using the app, users will also be able to see if their friends are online and what they're playing, their achievements and related items. The app will also turn their Windows Phone devices into remote controls, with full playback and file navigation and even buying content. The app is likely to work with all Windows Phone devices in all regions, although only some of the content services will be available worldwide. [via MajorNelson]
