Delayed Xbox 360 Dash to come soon

Microsoft's Larry Hryb in an update saw an end in sight to the delay for getting the Xbox 360 fall Dashboard update. The first wave of gamers would be getting the update inside of the "next few hours." He didn't give an explanation for the last-minute freeze or say when every user would have the new Windows Phone-influenced front end.

The most probable cause is a last-minute bug discovery or server-side problem that could create problems when rolled out on a large scale. Microsoft regularly takes Xbox Live down for multiple hours when it either needs to make an important change in how the service works for everyone or to lay the groundwork for a future update.

Updates in 2011 bring a fundamentally different approach to the interface that includes a much heavier emphasis on music and video as well as integrated Bing searches both on and off of the console. It now has an app platform and Beacons to signal intent.
