T-Mobile updates G2X and Radar 4G

T-Mobile planned out a pair of updates for key smartphones this week. It confirmed that it was restarting its Android 2.3 update for the G2X. Updates had gone properly for the LG phone before, but T-Mobile hoped to catch those who either missed the update or had bought phones that still had 2.2 after the 2.3 upgrades finished.

Owners started getting the update on Monday, but everyone should be updated automatically if they don't check themselves.

In tandem with the official news, a leak sprouting from TmoNews has shown that the HTC Radar 4G will be getting its own update. The Windows Phone 7.5 hardware is now getting hotspot sharing, a feature already built into the OS but not exposed until now. Full ringtone downloading and customization support is similarly billed as new.

Other tweaks allow for connecting to Wi-Fi networks whose SSID is hidden and fixes with visual voicemail. The Radar 4G should get the update as of Wednesday and should just need an update check while tethered with the Zune app on Windows or Windows Phone 7 Connector on the Mac.
