Flipboard reaches iPhone at last

Flipboard helped kick off Le Web by launching an iPhone-optimized version (App Store). The now-universal 1.7 release both shrinks the layout to fit on the smaller screen and is also better optimized, accepting up-and-down swipes to navigate as well as side swipes. Along with iPad features, the iPhone gets a new Cover Stories feature first, where a handful of shared articles and photos are introduced and adapted over time.

Every user now gets much requested support for multiple accounts. The trick both helps multiple readers share one device and makes for easier portability: users can sign on with the iPhone and get all their preferred content channels.

One more universal addition brings an All Timeline section that merges every social networking source. Speed is now more of a focus and purportedly has a magazine-like speed for flipping through pages.

The new Flipboard needs an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch running at least iOS 4.
