HP employees given first dibs

HP is reportedly set to continue clearing its TouchPad inventory through an eBay auction, contrasting from the traditional retail distribution of the earlier sale. Interestingly enough, the eBay selloff involves only refurbished models but the prices for the 16GB and 32GB remain at $99 and $149, respectively, which matches the bottom price from the new tablets.

The company recently released a major webOS update for the range of tablets, despite the clear intention to discontinue the lineup. An executive claimed the development team is still working on long-term projects to continue improving the OS.

The eBay auction is set to begin on December 11 at 6pm, with sales limited to two tablets per customer. A memo posted on TechCrunch suggests the company was going to give its own employees the first chance to buy the tablets for a few hours before the announcement was made to the public, however the information was leaked.
