Carrier Tweets service has "returned to normal"

Verizon has advised its wireless through Twitter that its 4G LTE service has "returned to normal." Customers first began experiencing problems sending data over the carrier's data network earlier this week. Verizon has declined to discuss the cause of the outages.

On Wednesday, Verizon confirmed that it was having localized problems with its LTE network. Subscribers had complained that their 4G-capable devices were able to connecting via 3G, but not using the higher speed 4G network.

The LTE network problems may also be behind the company's latest apparent delay in its planned shipment of its new Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone. The device initially was expected to be shipped in November, but that slipped until December 9 as a result of a reported problem with the phone's volume. That date has now reportedly been pushed back even further, until December 13.
