Order believed to have been increased

Barnes & Noble is believed to have received more than a million Nook Tablets from the company's manufacturing partner, Inventec, unnamed sources from component suppliers have told DigiTimes. The company is said to have expected to ship 800,000 tablets before the end of the year, suggesting holiday sales may have proven stronger than initially anticipated.

Official unit numbers for Nook Tablet shipments have yet to be announced, however the company did confirm that the device has become its fastest-selling Nook product. Total sales for Nook products, which includes content and accessories, increased by 85 percent since launch day to reach $220 million.

It is unclear if the sales surge will help the company turn around its financials, after posting a $6.6 million loss in the second quarter.
