Pope uses Sonty Tablet S to light Christmas tree

Pope Benedict XVI has eschewed the promised tablet for the job, the iPad, in favor of a Sony Tablet S in order to light the tallest Christmas tree in the world. The reason for the switch isn't known, though DigitalLife has contacted the Vatican and Apple in order to find out the reason for the last-minute change. The tree is 2,132 feet tall and overlooks the town of Gubbio in Italy.

To be fair, the 'tree' is actually an outline of the shape of one using lights on the face of Mount Ingino. The Pope lit it from 130 miles away by pressing a virtual button on the Sony tablet.

As seen in the second embedded video, the Pope used an iPad to launch the Vatican's website in the past, showing that he isn't platform-exclusive.

    The usual.

Apple hating IT nerd manager... as if you had to ask.

Pressing a virtual button on screen is all it's good for, anyway (as is the pope)

How is that being 'fair'. Isn't that what should have been written in the first sentence?

    Obvious reason

Isn't it obvious why they eschewed the iPad? They couldn't get the app approved in time. Probably some silly programmer used the name 'johnny appleseed', or it was listed as the pope lights a tree app and it was considered possibly offensive.

And maybe they didn't want to have to give Apple 30% of the weekly donations from parishioners.
