Nokia Lumia 710 ships to stores
Nokia finished the week by shipping its second Windows Phone, the Lumia 710. The less expensive of the two models should be available off-contract for the equivalent of 270 euros ($370). Taiwan will have access immediately, while Hong Kong, India, Russia, and Singapore will get it within the next week.
More countries are due in the "coming weeks," Nokia said. One of those will be the US, where a T-Mobile event on December 14 should introduce the Lumia 710 and possibly ship it soon afterwards. A contract price will likely sit under $100.
The device isn't necessarily far from its higher-end cousin, the Lumia 800, which started shipping in November. Both have 3.7-inch, 480x800 displays and 1.4GHz single-core Snapdragon processors. Nokia primarily trims the price through its use of a regular LCD instead of an AMOLED screen, a five-megapixel camera, and 8GB of storage instead of 16GB. Its construction isn't as exotic, but it has five interchangeable color options keyed to Windows Phone themes.
