PlayBook 2.0 may get 4G LTE model, 720p display

The next BlackBerry PlayBook tablet from RIM may sport 4G LTE network compatibility and have a 720p display, developer beta code for the device reveals. Shared by N4BB, OS 2.0 code contains icons that would appear at the top notification bar of the device. There is also mention of 1280x780 screen resolution, slightly taller than needed for 720p video.

A recent roadmap from RIM showed a larger, 10-inch PlayBook is in the works, codenamed Black Forest.

Much earlier plans from Sprint to carry a 4G PlayBook were dropped mid-year due to market saturation, the carrier said. In the end, plans to carry any 3G or 4G PlayBook in the fall were scrapped, partly because of extremely low sales of the Wi-Fi version.
