Elevation Dock aims for ultimate iPhone home

An already successful Kickstarter project has promised to cure all the problems associated with iPhone docks. The Elevation Dock uses a deliberately heavy, milled aluminum base with a low-friction Dock Connector. The goal, founder Casey Hopkins says, is to let users easily slip the iPhone in or out where everyday docks either stick to the device or require too much work for the actual docking.

The dock also has an adjustable support pad that can accept the device while it's still in a case without making it awkward to go without. Acoustics are still a consideration and designed to keep it usable during voice and video calls.

Advance supporters get the best discounts as well as special features. A base $59 pledge gets a silver-finish standard dock; going to $79 goes to a Dock+ with audio line out. Paying $85 goes to matte black, and $150 gets a Kickstarter-only lime green or sun orange version. Paying $250 gets a green Dock+ and two regular docks, and $500 nets two black Dock+ kits, two basic docks, and both colors of the special edition.

The project is already well past its $75,000 pledge target and will ship in April.
