LG Optimus LTE to be first HD 4G at NTT DoCoMo

The LG Optimus LTE will become available on NTT DoCoMo's Xi 4G LTE network in Japan on December 15, the South Korean manufacturer announced. The phone will be offered in black, white and red, the last of which is unique to the carrier. The phone is already available in Korea, Canada, and the US.

The Japanese version gets a 1seg digital TV tuner and a near field communications (NFC) chip for wireless, wire-free payments. Japanese IT publication Get Navi wrote that the Optimus LTE will be the best offering in the carrier's high-end device range.

The phone has a 4.5-inch, 1,280x720 True HD IPS display, which makes it the first HD 4G handset in Japan. Other noteworthy specs of the device include a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon chip, a high-capacity 1,830mAh battery, an eight-megapixel rear camera, an HDMI output, DLNA media sharing over Wi-Fi Direct, and 4GB of storage supplemented by a 16GB microSDHC memory card. Android 2.3 is preloaded.
