Galaxy Nexus sells out due to low supply

updated 07:40 pm EST, Thu December 15, 2011

Customers report low stocks

Verizon has reportedly sold out of Samsung's Galaxy Nexus at many of the carrier's retail outlets. The device is said to have been one of the few Android devices to attract lineups of eager customers waiting for stores to open this morning, after the carrier failed to fulfill the original November launch expectation in the US.

Although the customer lines and exhausted inventories suggest Verizon is pushing a large quantity of units, some customers claim to have been told by store staff that some locations received less than ten handsets for launch day. MacNN reviewed the Galaxy Nexus earlier this week.

Verizon quickly released a software update for the Galaxy Nexus within hours of its arrival on the market, bringing a tweaked UI and improvements to Wi-Fi and 3G/4G connectivity.

The carrier is said to be receiving new stock daily, though it remains unclear if the company will continue to have supply hiccups in the near future. The handset sells for $300 direct from Verizon, however Amazon is offering the device for $150 with a two-year contract and a shipping delay of over a week. [via Android and Me]
