PS Vita gets unboxed in Japan early

Handheld expected to arrive on Saturday

Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld appears to have been unboxed ahead of schedule in Japan, where the device is formally scheduled to be placed on store shelves tomorrow morning. A YouTube video shows the early preview of the production model, along with several games including what appears to be Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

A side-by-side comparison of Sony's proprietary memory card suggests the form is extremely close to a standard SD card. The company recently clarified that each device will be tied to a single user account unless it is completely wiped, despite suggestions that users would be able to have separate accounts on different memory cards.

The PS Vita is not set for a North American launch until February 22. The Wi-Fi edition carries a $250 price tag, while the 3G variant commands $300.
