Cricket gets flagship Mercury smartphone for $250

Cricket on Monday revealed it will soon carry the Huawei Mercury. Now the most powerful handset offered by the carrier, the mid-range Android phone gets a single-core 1.4GHz processor and a four-inch, 854x480 touchscreen display. There is 2GB of built-in storage along with a microSD memory card slot, and an eight-megapixel rear camera along with a VGA front camera.

A native hotspot function allows tethering up to five devices. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are onboard as well, and the device has full access to the Android Market as well as Cricket's Storefront for purchasing ringtones, graphics, games, apps and more. Which version of Android is preloaded isn't specified, but it should be Android 2.3.

The handset sells for $250 and requires Cricket's $55 per month plan.
