Galaxy Nexus for Google touts special back

Google workers such as Edu Pereda are reporting getting a very limited edition of the Galaxy Nexus. The Android 4.0 headliner comes with a special printed back that has many of the icons from the new mobile OS. It's presumed most or all staff will be getting the new Nexus, although they may have to line up to get it directly.

The hardware inside should be the same as the regular version for the public, which centers on its 4.65-inch, 720p AMOLED screen and runs a 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos chip underneath. Other signature tricks bring a fast if not always low-light-friendly five-megapixel rear camera, a front 1.3-megapixel camera, and built-in NFC for Android Beam sharing, tags, and eventual Google Wallet support.

It's unlikely that Google will ever make the limited edition publicly available, although it may reserve the phone or one like it for developers and the media at Google I/O this June.

The phone is likely both to expose everyone at the company to its new OS as well as to reward them for making Android the majority smartphone platform this year. [via The Next Web]
