Nokia Lumia 800 battery life fixable and testable

Nokia in an update Monday said that the Lumia 800's known power issues could be "easily resolved." It promised that the second of two updates, due in early 2012, would be the permanent fix. Some of the Windows Phone devices, though not all, couldn't see the full 1,000mAh battery capacity and needed to expose it through software.

There was also a simple way to check, Nokia said. Phoning ##634# triggered the phone's diagnostics tool and could show if there was significantly less than the 1,000mAh mark.

The update should bring its own, separate performance boosts. For those not willing to wait for the software fix, Nokia was willing to supply a replacement phone with full battery power.
