Samsung and Sony both run unusual CES promos

Samsung and Sony together hoped to ratchet up attention for their primarily TV-focused rollouts at CES through unusual methods. Samsung has posted a teaser video (below) for the "future of Smart TV" it plans to introduce at the show by showing a retrospective of how TV has advanced, from black and white to color, to DVRs, and to 3D. The 2012 shot gives few clues other than the presences of phones and tablets, suggesting Android hardware might tie in next year.

Samsung is rumored to have a Google TV rollout at the event that might see it customize the Android-based interface to its own ends.

Sony, in turn, has brought up a "wedding" page that marries the Bravia line of TVs and home theater hardware with the Sony Entertainment Network. Little else is given out, although this makes it clear that Sony's Unlimited video and likely music services will play a strong part. The "wedding" is January 11 at 8:30PM, sometime significantly after Sony's actual CES unveiling.

If in step with their traditional CES behavior, both may only ship their TVs several months after the show.
