Tools and scripts for corporate Mac fleets

A Google administrator, Clay Caviness, who works with the search giant's internal "Macintosh Operations" team, has announced that the company will be releasing a range of tools that it uses to manage its Mac machines. The company has added a "macops" page on its project hosting site, where the utilities and scripts will be posted in the future.

Current tools include an application usage module for the Python utility crankd, along with a facter script for database management.

Google staff early last year reported that the company was moving away from using Windows machines, due to security threats. Most of the staff are said to be required to use Macs or, to a lesser extent, Linux-based computers.

"Over time we'll be releasing other items," Caviness said in a Google+ post. "We hope this helps other Macintosh administrators!"

    Administrate?

Seriously, you're allegedly journalists…the verb is 'administer'.

    Let's try English...

The word is "administer" - NOT that abomination "administrate"! Are there no editors at work here?

    Yes, administrate

Look it up. While you're at it, look up another word: synonym.

    OK, it's a word

But so is "ain't" and "irregardless". That doesn't mean they should be used.

    Re: OK, it's a word

So now the problem isn't the use of words, but that actual words shouldn't be used. Of course, we should all know all the words people shouldn't use.

And, really, you're whining about the usage of a word on a freakin' internet site? Seriously? If you want proper english, get off the web and get yourself some classical reading materials.
