Verizon 4G network is down across the US, 3G back

Verizon 4G network subscribers are reporting data network outages across the US. The Verizon community forum members in all regions of the US are complaining that the network isn't up and running, some stating it was down since about 3AM Eastern. The 3G network was also down but has since been restored, according to some reports.

Verizon is aware of the problem and is working on addressing the issue. No reasons have been given for the outage, however. Some users are getting credits for the outage and phone service, including texting, remains unaffected.

The carrier has often touted the quality of its network, but its data has suffered in the past few months. It's now known to have delayed the Galaxy Nexus launch in part to avoid risks that its LTE network would be down just as one of its most important 4G phones of the year was going on sale. Multiple 4G-only outage had occurred earlier in 2011.
