Company originally capped use of Sprint's network

Just one month after Republic Wireless officially launched a beta program for its voice and data plans, the company has changed its policy regarding "unlimited" use. Subscribers initially were allowed to use unlimited voice and text over Wi-Fi connections, however the company placed restrictions on the levels of data that could be used over Sprint's 3G network.

Customers who ran over certain usage caps were forced to drop their Republic Wireless plan and switch to a traditional carrier.

"Some of you advised that we just step back from being 'unlimited'," the company wrote in a blog post. "Rather than revising our fair use policy, we’ve decided not to have one at all. There will simply be no thresholds, and no risk of losing service."

Anyone who purchased a phone during the company's beta trials will be able to take advantage of the new terms. Despite the changes, the unlimited talk, text and data plans still maintain the original $19/month price.

"We realize we got it wrong and look forward to improving as we work together to realize common republic wireless goals," the company added.
