OnLive reaches Xperia Play, iPad and iPhone still missing

OnLive Player goes to Xperia Play

OnLive on Thursday night brought its live play Android app (free, Android Market) to Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play. The already gaming-oriented phone can stream games and get full access to the physical gamepad, making it a much better fit for console and general action games. Gamers can now skip playing the touch-optimized adaptations if they prefer the hardware feel.

All features, such as replay clips and live spectating, work on the Xperia Play.

Pricing works the same way and includes either flat-rate subscription access or paying per game.

The launch comes without any sign of the iOS app that was promised with the deployment early this month. OnLive still describes it as being in the approval process. It's not clear what the obstacle is, although the combination of the complexity of the app and the holiday break for Apple's app approval team may be affecting the timing.
