Conan O'Brien show turns up heat on Kindle Fire
The Conan O’Brien show has taken a stab at the Amazon Kindle playing on some of the complaints that users have had with the device since its launch. Following the release of the 6.2.1 update that was designed to address some of the issues including making the device more responsive, the show put together a satirical video clip (embedded below). The clip mocks, among other things, problems users have had with 'off' switch being too easy to inadvertently hit during use and the rumored high return rate for the device.
Other criticisms of the Kindle Fire have been directed towards the quality of the device’s display. DisplayMate compared the displays of the Kindle Fire with the iPad 2 and the Barnes & Noble Nook and noted that the Fire was notably deficient compared with the other two. Its color was poor, as was its detail, while it produced 70 percent more glare than the iPad 2 and twice as much as the Nook.
While the Conan O’Brien show did not directly attack the Kindle Fire’s display, it does set the display on Fire in a play on the name of the device. It also suggests that the software update now includes a new button that provides a simple solution to user woes; it reads “Buy iPad 2 now!”
