Harrods to get BlackBerry P'9981 in 2011 for $2K

RIM's high-style Porsche Design BlackBerry P'9981 has just received shipping details. It will arrive in the UK in Harrods department stores before year's end, with a steep price of £1,275 (about $2,000 at current conversion rates). This is, however, contract-free and buyers have to bring their own SIM cards.

For that money, buyers will get a unique looking handset made mostly of forged stainless steel. There is hand-laid leather covering the rear of the device as well. The phone is similar to the Bold 9900 on the inside and includes both a 1.2GHz processor and NFC communications for mobile payments. BlackBerry 7 is preloaded, but overlaid with a Porsche Design user interface that's unique to the handset. It includes Wikitude's World Browser Augmented Reality app.

The 8GB of internal storage can be expanded through a microSD memory card slot, and the five-megapixel rear camera can record 720p quality video. [via T3]
