Nabaztag revival starts with December 24 date

The Nabaztag team has posted a teaser for a return to form of its Internet-linked rabbits. A "revival" is due at midnight in an unmentioned time zone that would let users once again setup the devices to pass along notifications. Users can get back to them "without changing anything," the team said, and would put in extra "community contributions."

The return would come five months after the service shutdown in July.

Nabaztag is expected to come back early next year, possibly in the form of new hardware, but what that would be isn't apparent at this stage. The rabbits, such as the Nabaztag:tag, got attention through their unusual light-based notifications as well as their unique extras. They could stand in for Internet phone calls and even recognize RFID tags years before NFC started appearing.
