HTC Super Tool unlocks bootloaders that HTC won't

HTC Super Tool unofficial tool goes public

Owners unhappy with the selection of hardware in HTC's bootloader unlocking program have developed their own unofficial solution. HTC Super Tool on the XDA-Developers forums both unlocks the bootloader and roots devices whether or not they're part of HTC's plans. Along with the Evo and Sensation models, it also unlocks the T-Mobile G2, Inspire 4G, and multiple myTouch models.

Those that want it can also strip out HTC's Sense UI.

As with nearly all such hacks, Super Tool voids the warranty as long as it's present. It's also not guaranteed to work and has a risk of creating problems. HTC might not have a way to stop the app unless it can patch any vulnerability used to unlock the bootloader. [via PocketNow]
