Microsoft seeking software engineer for WP backup

Microsoft is seeking a new employee to join its Windows Phone Backup, Migrate, and Restore team, suggesting the next update to Windows Phone will allow cloud backup and easy restore functions. The ideal Software Development Engineer would be based in Redmond and help users restore their wiped phones to their user-customized states. They could also quickly put the contacts, settings, apps and other content onto replacement phones when their original one is lost or stolen.

The job listing doesn't provide any other detailed information as to the functions of the back-up feature that would be developed by the team and the ideal candidate. It may back up the phone using the Zune interface on a computer or perhaps over the cloud using Skydrive.

Thus far, Windows Phone users can only back up their handsets using a homebrewed backup tool. [via WPCentral]
