Apple: 4.95 million iOS device activations 12/25
Andy Rubin has used his Twitter account to inform his audience that a staggering 3.7 million new Android devices were activated over the holiday weekend. Rubin recently tweeted that Android is now averaging 700,000 activations a day, but this more than doubled for the past weekend. On each day of last Saturday and Sunday, 1.85 million devices were activated.
According to Flurry Analytics, a total of 6.8 million iOS devices and Android device combined were activated globally on Sunday alone. This would mean that Apple devices including iPhones, iPads and iPod touches still accounted for around 4.95 million activations on that day. The exact mix of device sales, however, was not immediately available.
Flurry's tracking has also shown that December 25 is the day when typically more apps are downloaded than any other single day, for obvious reasons. This year, app downloads on Christmas Day were 125 percent higher than last year. While Google recently reached its 10 billion app downloads since the launch of the platform in 2008, Apple is on track to achieve that figure in 2011 alone. This will actually outstrip the combined App Store downloads over 2008, 2009 and 2010. [via TheVerge]

Amazing!
We've now learned that a lot of people give each other cheap c*** for Christmas. Thanks for sharing, Andy.
