Glitches allegedly forced delay
Facebook will be bringing Timeline profiles to the iPad sometime between mid- to late January, according to a 9to5Mac source. The feature is already present in the native iPhone interface thanks to a mid-December update. Even though the Facebook iOS app is now universal, the iPad interface has yet to gain Timeline support.
The source explains that Timeline was supposed to come to the iPad in December, but was delayed because of bugs. Mid- to late January is said to be the current target, but two factors could create delays. "The app was already delayed once because of bugs," the source cautions, "so, it would not be surprising for the update to be delayed once again." The person adds that any wait for approval from Apple could further push back the iPad Timeline debut.
Timeline is a relatively new way of displaying profile content at Facebook. All of a person's content is organized chronologically, including not just status updates but their photos and various interactions. For the time being, enabling Timeline is purely optional.
