ASUS shows USB wireless headset, PC speakers

Computer maker ASUS has just introduced two new USB audio products for notebook and desktop computers with the HS-W1 Wireless USB Headset and MS-100 speakers. The headsets have 70mm leather earpads for comfort and use 2.4GHz wireless tech that offers up to 50 feet of range. Users need to plug in a small USB dongle to send CD-quality wireless audio.

There are 40mm drivers and a built-in equalizer in each earpad, along with a noise-filtering microphone. A rotate-to-mute design is more intuitive than a small button, ASUS believes, as are the large on-ear volume controls. The built-in battery is said to offer up to eight hours of running time. The headphones fold and weigh 170 grams (0.37 pounds).

The MS-100 USB speakers are powered entirely by a USB port. Their art deco design houses a 54mm, 1.5W speaker that can provide up to 93dB of sound at less than three percent distortion. The speakers are compatible out of the box with Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems, although USB speakers will usually work on Macs.

Pricing and release dates for the devices haven't been revealed, and with ASUS are usually mentioned on a country-by-country basis. [via TweakTown]
