Verizon compounds data issues with activations
Verizon's data outage woes have been reinforced as reports have emerged on its forums over the past day that new activations are failing as well. While initially reported by iPhone buyers, both them and Android users, likely including other platforms, are finding themselves unable to get on to the network. Verizon appeared to initially blame Apple, although separate confirmations and conversations with Apple itself have put the burden on Verizon.
Verizon hasn't formally acknowledged the activation problems outside of discussions with customers.
The activation problem magnifies what's been Verizon's roughest month known to date, with three data outages having both hurt service and delayed the launch of the Galaxy Nexus. It had previously been known for having one of the most reliable cellular networks in the US, but that has since come into question. Activations are more difficult to pin on outside factors.
