Verizon set to charge a $2 fee per bill payment
Leaked screenshots suggest that Verizon might charge $2 per bill for its customers who don’t set up an automatic payment facility. While customers have become used to getting hit with a fee for a paper statement, Verizon looks set to charge those who opt for an online statement as well. If customers choose to pay their bill by phone, mail or even over the Internet, they will be in line for a $2 fee per bill.
According to a Verizon FAQ on what is termed the customer ‘convenience fee,’ users will be notified in advance of making their payment that a $2 fee will apply if they choose pay by any one of the traditional payment methods. The only way to avoid the fee will be to sign up to the company’s auto-pay facility, or to set up an electronic check facility for monthly bills.
The proposed fee is due to be introduced from January 15. [via Droid-Life]
