Atom-based netbook may hit retailers post CES

Pricing for a new Intel Cedar Trail-based Acer netbook have popped up in Europe. The Acer Aspire One D270 (AOD270) is a 10.1-inch said to be running the newer, faster 1.6GHz Atom N2600 processor. The D270 is also believed to come equipped with 1GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive. It will be available with either a three-cell or six-cell battery.

Pricing for Acer's Aspire One D270 is 250 euros ($324 USD) for the three cell model and 269 euros ($348 USD) for the six-cell version.

The Cedar Trail is Intel's latest Atom processor, built upon a dual 32nm core. The D270's N2600 features Hyperthreading and a newer-generation 400MHz embedded graphics core. Netbooks with the processor were supposed to ship last month, but real-world availability has slipped until mid-January, probably after the upcoming CES show. Problems with the GPU have been unofficially cited as the main cause. [via Notebook Italia]
