HTC unlocks Droid Incredible 2, Thunderbolt

HTC is continuing to unlock bootloaders for its devices this week, now adding the Droid Incredible 2 and Thunderbolt. The official program is meant to have all 2011 smartphones unlocked, depending on carriers and their permission. Despite being official, the unlock may void users' warranties.

Also, SIMs when relevant aren't unlocked, as this is left to the carrier's discretion and some content may not play back due to DRM issues. Users will continue to receive over-the-air updates from their carrier, but these could make the phones unusable.

Unlocking the bootloader does allow users to load unreleased software onto the devices for the purposes of development or otherwise, including unofficial Android 4.0 builds. [via Droid-Life]
